WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU:

  • Operating all laundry machines and adding designated chemicals in accordance with specified amounts, times and temperatures for the particular articles to be washed
  • Monitoring usage of chemicals and water to maximize consumption
  • Separating soiled bed linen/terry/food and beverage table linens; bundling and documenting amounts of each bundle
  • Sorting all stained/damaged items and determining status for rewash or discard; maintaining continuous inventory of discard items
  • Operating the ironing and folder machines. Checking the cleanliness and condition of articles while processing through the machines; separating damaged/stained articles
  • Documenting and processing guest requests for laundry, dry cleaning and pressing of garments, hotel uniforms and designated management garments
  • Reporting faulty equipment, damaged garments/linens, shortages, maintenance needs, safety hazards and problems to supervisor
  • Adhering to all Health Department, sanitation and safety regulations

JOB KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Availability during peak operating times, i.e.: Weekends, Holidays and Special Events
  • Knowledge of laundry/dry cleaning equipment and chemical handling
  • Knowledge of finishing techniques for all types of fabrics
  • Knowledge of proper chemical handling
  • Ability to lift/carry at least 75 pounds
  • Push/pull carts or equipment up to 250 pounds
  • Ability to reach above head and shoulder height to perform job duties
  • Ability to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 or more hours in length
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to compute basic arithmetic and mathematical calculations

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 years demonstrated cleaning/housekeeping experience, preferably in a hospitality environment
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
